Rick Torres for County Council, District No. 5

Why I’m running for county council

I raised my three children in this community and have always been extremely proud to call Clark County our home. Unfortunately, the Clark County we live in today has become unrecognizable to many who live here. It’s time to elect steadfast leadership that is not beholden to any special interest. With the courage and fortitude to lead our county in a professional and forward-thinking manner, I will work to promote public safety, livability, economic development, and small government.

Having been a resident of Clark County for 23 years, I’ve spent over 12 years in law enforcement at both the Clark County Sheriff’s office and Vancouver Police Department. I have a deep understanding of the major issues facing our County, including skyrocketing crime rates, an outdated county jail, growing homeless population, exorbitant home prices, crumbling roads, and failing county leadership.

I pride myself on being able to draw upon my education and work experience to quickly evaluate data and make decisions for the good of all our citizens. I’m running for Clark County Council District #5 to ensure Clark County is safe, affordable, and prosperous for everyone who calls Clark County home.
